Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: Hybrid – Golden, CO

Candidate should be local to Colorado.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Writer to support a county-wide initiative to revise and standardize approximately 300 internal job aids . This includes applying a standardized Microsoft Word template, ensuring clarity and consistency, and verifying accessibility compliance. Ideal candidates are passionate about inclusive design and clear technical communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply existing content into standardized Microsoft Word templates
• Edit job aids for clarity, consistency, and plain language
• Conduct accessibility checks (e.g., heading structure, alt text, color contrast)
• Collaborate with SMEs to clarify and revise content
• Finalize documents for SharePoint publishing
• Track and report document progress and status

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong writing and editing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word formatting
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG 2.1)
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro for PDF accessibility checks
• Attention to detail with the ability to follow templates and guidelines
• Basic experience using screen readers or assistive technology
• Effective time management and communication skills
