Job Title: Estimating and Drafting Associate

Department: Estimating

Job Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Location: Hampton Bays, NY

Reports To: Internal Project Manager

Travel: Occasional travel required

Salary: 70K to 80K

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Estimating and Drafting Associate to join our team. This hybrid role supports both our estimating and drafting departments to ensure project success from concept through construction. You’ll be involved in producing technical drawings, supporting cost estimation, coordinating documentation, and assisting with permits, procurement, and client communications.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting

  • Create and revise detailed architectural and construction drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Develop site plans, elevations, sections, and 3D models based on project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure designs meet specifications.
  • Ensure drawings comply with local codes, zoning regulations, and standards.
  • Produce as-built drawings and assist with submittal and permit packages.

Estimating

  • Perform material and labor take-offs from architectural drawings.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and bid packages.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
  • Track change orders and assist with cost analysis and progress billing.

Administrative & Project Support

  • Maintain digital project files and documentation (e.g., BuilderTrend, Architect Folder).
  • Support building permit applications and coordinate with municipalities as needed.
  • Place and track special orders, materials, and vendor payments.
  • Conduct occasional site visits for verification and support.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to support the full project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Coursework in Drafting or related field (Certificate, Associate degree, or similar preferred).
  • 1–3 years of drafting or estimating experience in a construction or architectural setting.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp (Revit a plus).
  • Strong understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
