Description Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Director of University Counseling Service, the Associate Director, Director of Embedded Counseling Programs provides direct administrative supervision, support, and oversight to all Embedded Staff Therapists located in a variety of host departments, including Residence Education, the College of Business, the College of Law, the College of Dentistry, and University College. This position assists Embedded Therapists with day-to-day support regarding operations, policy matters, and inter-departmental management between UCS and functional supervisors within the Embedded areas. They will provide guidance to help facilitate continued growth of the current Embedded Therapists while also demonstrating the value of the Embedded Counseling model to the University community at large. The Associate Director will respond to inquiries from and facilitates conversations with prospective host units on campus about the Embedded model, in collaboration with the Director of UCS. Specific Job Duties: Provides framework and guidance for success to Embedded Therapists. Carries a clinical caseload providing counseling to groups, individuals, and couples, consulting with other professionals as necessary, diagnosing, assessing and treating emotional and functional concerns through brief model counseling. Participates in and/or conducts in-service presentations. Initiates workshops and outreach services designed to provide mental health education to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents/families. Meets regularly with UCS Director to establish and discuss embedded program priorities; budget; personnel/staffing issues; inter-departmental relationships, mission, vision, and strategic planning; and reviews plans for growth. Prepares timely data driven reports of all activities for use in evaluation of the Embedded counseling program; provides annual update and evaluation of the program; reports regularly to the UCS Director concerning the ongoing progress of the program; compiles data to analyze and identify risks, trends, and gaps. Develops and maintains policies and procedures to govern a creative, technologically involved Embedded Counseling program, ensuring adherence to best practices, and applicable codes of professional ethics governing Embedded therapy models. May seek funding for and conduct studies and research on mental health issues; may publish or present findings in appropriate professional journals or forums. Reviews financial records and budgets for Embedded Therapists as needed. Reports on overall budget information to Director as requested. Provides consultation to units who inquire about the Embedded Counseling model to provide insights on structure, cost, benefits, and operational logistics. Qualifications Required Education & Licensure: Doctoral degree in either Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited program, Master's degree in Social Work with clinical focus from a CSWE-Accredited program, or Master's degree in Counseling from a CACREP-Accredited Program. Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor: Licensed as an LISW or LMHC in the State of Iowa by date of hire. Psychologist: Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist within 18 months of hire. License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment. Required Qualifications: Minimum of two years of relevant post degree experience providing mental health counseling Extensive written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Extensive proficiency providing counseling to adolescents and young adults with the ability to respond to emergency situations effectively, professionally, appropriately and in a timely manner. Extensive understanding of and commitment to creating and providing a welcoming and respectful environment in the delivery and management of counseling center services. Extensive experience (typically 1-3 years) in program development, administrative supervision, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple behavioral health sites. Extensive experience (typically 1-3 years) in coordinating and implementing strategic plans and working collaboratively with stakeholders. Extensive Experience (typically 1-3 years) in managing conflicts and working toward optimal resolutions. Working knowledge of providing clinical supervision to trainees. Working proficiency with office support tools and electronic medical records software (e.g., word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets, electronic health records); preferably Microsoft Office and Titanium EHR. Desirable Qualifications: Previous university or college counseling center experience, preferably in an environment with an embedded counseling program or model. Experience building/growing a successful embedded mental health program in a collegiate environment or similar. Experience and interest in research and data collection and analysis.
